Background to Vaughans trading history
Vaughans is a well established and reputable firm. In recent years it has developed significantly into the leading player that it is today. Back in 1971, Hywel and Anne Vaughan established Vaughans Radio and opened for business in Quay Street, Haverfordwest supplying televisions, record players and audio equipment from manufacturers such as Grundig, Hitachi and ITT.
The business soon established itself and as a result moved to larger premises in Picton Place in 1973.
In 1976, Alun Vaughan joined the business, and it was during this time that the company’s achievement was recognised by becoming an approved Panasonic Solus Centre.
The success of the team was such that Vaughans had to look for much larger premises to keep pace with the requirements of its ever-increasing loyal customer base. In 1987, a 5000sq. foot premises in Quay Street was acquired, and the team set about maximising the company’s potential growth, recruiting sales professionals with proven experience in providing exceptional levels of customer care in an increasingly competitive market. Each individual was given product knowledge training, both in-house and by the company’s main suppliers. This enabled the business to greatly expand the range of goods it could offer, including a completely new range of “white” goods.
In 1990, the partnership between Alun and his sister Anne was formed, and they set about planning the continued growth of the business by expanding their geographical area of operation. In 1999, the partners formed a limited company, and Vaughans Radio Limited was established with Alun Vaughan as Managing Director and Anne Vaughan as Company Secretary.
Since then we have expanded into Llanelli and Cardiff along with a Home Appliance Centre and a Bose Showroom in Haverfordwest..We have also added shops in Aberystwyth and St Clears. Click here for locations
